529,971. Moistening and otherwise treating air with liquids. FLEISHER, W. L. Aug. 2, 1939, No. 22443. Convention date, Aug, 30, 1938. [Class 55 (ii)] Air is drawn by a fan 45 through rotating contact devices 37 each containing filamentary material such as glass wool the filaments of which are aligned along the direction of the flow of air which enters through openings 33, 34 at each end, and passes through the packing material in the drums 37 which are caused to rotate in, and are moistened by the liquid in a sump 36. An electric motor 42 drives a shaft 43 carrying a worm 47 which meshes with a worm wheel on a shaft 49 at the ends of which are mounted friction wheels 50 engaging the peripheries of the contact devices 37 to cause their rotation. The conditioned air is expelled from the fan discharge scroll 46. The contact devices are rotated' at about one revolution per minute. Specifications 477,478 and 513,444 are referred to.
