510,681. Sand-blast. SOC. ANON. ETABLISSEMENTS A. SISSON-LEHMANN. Feb. 4, 1938, No. 3567. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1937. [Class 60] [Also in Group II] Abrasive or other materials are mixed with a current of air moving at a high speed and passed without shock through a centrifugal impeller which projects it through an outlet in the surrounding casing. The abrasive material passes from the container 1 through an adjustable feed device 3 and tube 4 to the casing 5 in which the air current is blowing; the material rebounds from the strip 6 and disperses in the current. It is then conducted to the nozzle 7 from which it passes to the impeller, which consists of two discs with blades 11 of hard metal secured to members 10 welded or bolted to the discs. The casing 18 carries the bearing for the driving shaft and has a discharge outlet 19 for the passage of the spray. The blades 11 are curved to receive the material from the nozzle 7 without shock, and the nozzle is adjustable; it can be wedged in any fixed position, or it can be oscillated by means of a connecting rod 25. The current of air in the casing 5 may be produced by a fan driven from the impeller shaft, or by an auxiliary motor.
