Abstract

529,891. Electric resistance furnaces. ANDERSSON, F. S. June 10, 1939, No. 17051. Convention date, June 11, 1938. [Class 39 (iii)] In a furnace of the salt bath type for the heat treatment of tools and the like, a conduction body 13 is disposed within the salt bath and spaced by a layer of the bath from electrodes 11 so that current passes through the salt bath and through the body which is movable relatively to the electrodes. The conductor is attached to an arm 14 supported by a chain 15 moving over pulleys and secured to a lever 19 by operation of which the conductor is moved vertically. Two or more conductors may be used, and the electrodes may be adjustable instead of the conductor. A modification comprising a three phase circular furnace is described.
