566,885. Electric furnaces. ELECTRIC RESISTANCE FURNACE CO., Ltd., and SMITH, R. A. June 15, 1943, No. 9828/42. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric furnace of the salt bath type described in Specification 515,227, in which the electrodes 3, 4 are closely spaced, has the electrode-supporting arms 5, 6 mounted on the part 7 of the furnace body by means of clamp bars 9, and the electrodes are adjusted to and from one another by a rotatable threaded spindle 14 co-operating with lugs 13 on the arms 5, 6. Suitable mechanism may also be provided for varying the depth of immersion of the electrodes.
