529,738. Proofing cartons. HARTMANN, C. W., and SATONA, Ltd. May 26, 1939, No. 15685. [Class 95] In a machine for proofing cartons, e.g. by waxing, the cartons are tranferred from the coating device by means comprising a longitudinal support for the bases of the cartons and an endless conveyer with one track parallel with the support and provided with carton pushing means, and scrapers are provided, combined with the support, to scrape the bases of the cartons. Cartons 1, after passing through the wax bath 41, are withdrawn from their holders 43 by members 55, and are deposited on base rails 60 which are parallel with the upper track of the conveyer 57. Transverse pusher rods 58 on the conveyer, and longitudinal rails 59, form square frames each receiving a single carton. The rails 60 may be knife-edged, and the rods 58 may carry toothed thin plates 79 to engage the cartons with point contact. Scraper blades 72, which may be heated, remove surplus wax from the bases of the cartons, and this surplus is collected in heated trays 63. Specification 529,733 is referred to.
