Abstract

Buddling-apparatus; inclined-trough washing- apparatus. - Apparatus for concentrating ores &c. in sluice boxes and the like comprises an agitator of harrow-like form adapted to form in the material over a substantial area a system of grooves or pockets which may be inclined, for example, at right angles to the flow of the stream. The agitator and the sluice box may be moved relatively to each other, and the agitator may be stationary within the box, the grooves in the latter case being formed by impingement of the stream against the agitator. In the form shown, the agitator comprises a frame 13 carrying a staggered rows of pins 14 and adjustably suspended by cables 15. The frame 13 is reciprocated, preferably at the rate of the corresponding simple pendulum, by eccentrics 21, and may be movable longitudinally along the trough. The frame 13 may be hinged so as to be folded back for cleaning &c.
