326,588. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Hahn, H., and Sauter, H., [trading as Hahn & Kolb]). Jan. 1, 1929. Cleaning.-In an apparatus for cleaning metal articles of the type in which the articles are subjected to the action of cleaning liquid from rotary jets 5, 6, 7 in a chamber 1 as they are carried therethrough on a conveyer 2, the liquid is collected in a trough 12 formed of two inclined plates provided at the bottom with a pipe 13 which conveys the liquid to settling chambers 14 - - 17. The chambers 14, 15 and 16 are provided with interchangeable insert members which retain the dirt &c., and the chamber 17 is heated by a coil 18, the liquid therein being forced by a pump 19 through a pipe 21 to the jets 5, 6, 7. A heating coil such as 18 may also be arranged in one or both of the other settling chambers. In a modification, the trough below the jets is funnel-shaped and the liquid is led directly into the first settling chamber.
