Abstract

528,983. Electrode furnaces. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 18, 1939, No. 14874. Convention date, May 18, 1938. [Class 39 (iii)] In an electrode salt bath furnace the crucible consists of a metal or ceramic framework 1 which carries a rigid layer 10 of the salt to be melted, e.g., as salt bricks, which forms the crucible proper for receiving the melt. The rigid salt layer is cooled by a coil 3, and whole is surrounded by heat insulation 2. The framework 1 may consist of a metal container to which the cooling tubes 3 are welded.
