[Class 81 (i)'] [Also in Group IV] Insecticidal preparations comprise a compound containing the xanthone structure dispersed in an aqueous medium or mixed with a solid or semisolid diluent. Substances of the class which may be employed include xanthone, 3-bromoxanthone, xanthione, 2-7-dibromo-xanthone, and methylated xanthone. Methylated xanthone may be prepared by condensation of commercial cresotinic acid (a mixture of methylsalicylic acid isomers) with a phenol and pyroys of the resulting phenylcresotinic acid ester. Spreading sticking and other agents e.g. hydrated lime, tar soap, goulac. The preparations are employed as aqueous dispersions.
