Abstract
1,202,750. Phenylacetonitriles. W. D. COOKE (Knoll A.-G. Chemische Fabriken). 11 Dec., 1967, No. 56277/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of formula I and acid addition salts thereof wherein A, B, C, A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> and C<SP>1</SP> each represent a hydrogen or halogen atom or a hydroxy or C 1-8 alkoxy group or two adjacent groups may together form a methylenedioxy group R and R 1 each represent a C 1-8 alkyl group, n is 1 or 2 provided that at least one of A, B, C, A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> and C<SP>1</SP> is a hydroxy group and at least another is a C 1-8 alkoxy group, are prepared by subjecting phenol ethers of compounds of Formula I above to ether fusion or by alkylating compounds of Formula I above wherein R is H. Secondary amine intermediates of Formula I wherein R is H are prepared by subjecting phenol benzyl ethers to debenzylation. The above novel compounds have coronary dilatory effects when administered intravenously.
