1367678 Phenyl aminoethanols AMERICAN HOME PRODUCTS CORP 6 Dec 1971 [23 April 1971 (2)] 56468/71 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (one of A, B = direct link and the other = CHOH in which the OH group may be blocked; R<SP>1</SP> = H or blocking group; R<SP>3-5</SP> = H, C 1-6 alkyl, aralkyl, substituted aralkyl or aryl) and their salts and hydrates are prepared by standard methods, e.g. the following routes: (R<SP>11-13</SP> = C 1-6 alkyl, aralkyl, substituted aralkyl, phenyl; R<SP>14</SP> = benzyl, C 1-6 alkyl) (R<SP>21</SP> = H, C 1-6 alkyl, aralkyl, substituted aralkyl; R<SP>22</SP> = H, Me, Et, Pr; R<SP>23</SP> = H, alkanoyl). Some of the above compounds are bronchodilators, and they may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
