Abstract

528,529. Lubricating apparatus. KREMER, R. W. Feb. 20, 1940, No. 13814/39. [Classes 102 (i) and 102 (ii)] In lubricating apparatus comprising a lubricant-containing chamber 1 and a plunger 2 which is retractable by a rod 8 against the action of a spring 4, the plunger is locked in its retracted position, and unlocked, by rotation of a member about the axis of the chamber, In the form shown in Fig. 1. the plunger 2 carries an annular hook 12 which co-operates with a locking ring 13 which is normally urged into an eccentric position by a spring 16, the ring 13 having a button 25 which projects through the top 20 of the chamber 1 into a groove 26a in a cap 26. This groove decreases in depth from one end to the other so that rotation of the cap causes lateral movement of the ring 13 to unlock the hook 12. Fig. 2 shows the rod 8 formed with part annular grooves 37 of gradually decreasing depth adapted to co-operate with balls 27 pressed inwardly by springs 28, the rod 8 being carried by a rotatable cap 15. Fig. 3 shows the plunger provided with a member 31 adapted to make a bayonet-joint connection with a rotatable plate 32, unlocking being effected by rotation of the member 31 by means of the cap 15 and the rod 8, or by rotation of the plate 32.
