Abstract

528,300. Preventing interference. HALSEY, R. J. May 3, 1939, No. 13232. [Class 40 (iv)] High-frequency interference is eliminated from an overhead carrier line by grounding both wires through the windings of a tightly coupled transformer and suitably chosen or adjustable impedances. The connection to ground may include a common condenser which tunes the leakage inductance to the interfering frequency. The individual impedances may each consist of a resistance shunted by a condenser or a variably tapped resistance 45 and condenser 46 may be provided. Where two widely separated interference frequencies are concerned each is tackled separately by the aid of filters 43 or the impedances are designed to have the correct values at both frequencies, separate networks being provided for the respective windings.
