Abstract

527,963. Electromagnetic switches. BOSCH GES., R. April 25, 1939, No. 12364. Convention date, May 27, 1938. [Class 38 (v)] In a combined voltage regulator and battery charging switch, having a core 5 carrying a voltage coil 4 and a current coil 6 there is an auxiliary magnet 14 energized by a current coil 15. The voltage of the generator 1 is regulated in the usual way by the core 5 attracting an armature 9 and opening and closing contacts 12, 13. When the voltage is sufficient a second armature 8 is attracted and closes at 10, 11 the circuit through the two current coils 6, 15 and the battery 17 and consuming devices 18. The coil 15 serves to retain the armature 8 in this position, in spite of vibration of a vehicle, for example, and to release it at once if there is the smallest return current due to the voltage of the dynamo 1 falling below that of the battery 17.
