Abstract
527,935. Rubber solution paints. MANCHESTER OXIDE CO., Ltd., CLAYTON, J. H., and BANN, B. April 24, 1939, No. 12218. [Class 95] [Also in Group V] A rubber composition which forms films resistant to acids or alkalies is formed by treating a solution of rubber with a solution of thiocyanogen or a substance which yields thiocyanogen in situ. The solutions may be used as paints, lacquers or varnishes. Preferably the rubber is first degraded, for example, by allowing a rubber solution containing cobalt oleate, linoleate or resinate to stand for some weeks, or by blowing the solution with air at 60‹C. Artificial rubber and rubber-like materials may be treated. Gelling of the solution is prevented by addition of a stabilizer such as cyclohexanol. Specification 407,038 is referred to.
