Abstract

A stripping composition consists of a solution in methylene chloride of a relatively small quantity, e.g. \ba1/8\be to 2 per cent, of rubber or of a related substance such as caoutchouc, latex, or caoutchouc oil, with or without other rubber solvents or diluents. The quantity of rubber &c. is sufficient to prevent too rapid flow or evaporation of the solvent, even on a vertical surface. Examples are (1) methylene chloride 95, rubber 1,5, and paraffin 3,5 parts; (2) methylene chloride 93, rubber 1, and sperm oil or spermaceti 6 parts.
