Abstract

200,430. Assante, G. Oct. 28, 1922. Paints for coating submerged objects are prepared by liquefying rubber in an autoclave at about 160‹ C. and adding colophonium, talc, and sulphur, with continuous stirring. The mixture is cooled to about 20‹ C. and turpentine added. Preferred proportions are 60 per cent of rubber, 6 per cent of colophonium, 3 per cent of talc, 1 per cent of sulphur, and 30 per cent of turpentine. The paint is applied warm (50‹ C.) with a brush.
