Abstract
527,921. Hand-trucks. SCOFFIN & WILMOTT, Ltd., and NARRACOTT, R. KENDALL-. April 11, 1939, No. 10989. [Classes 108 (i) and 108 (ii) ] In a warehouse or like truck having a platform 14 and pairs of uprights 1 the uprights are of tubular metal and each pair is adapted to be connected by a crosspiece 2 which is detachable from one upright and is either pivotally mounted on the other or is rigid with the other upright and adapted to swing with it about a vertical axis, to facilitate loading. The cross-pieces provide a pushing handle and strengthening member. The pivotal connection comprises a spigot 3 fixed in the cross-piece 2 and pivotally secured in the upright by a segment 4 engaging a groove 5 in the spigot. The detachable connection comprises a spindle 10 rotatable in a bearing 9 in the upright by a knob 13 and having a cross-piece 11 which in one position can pass through a slot 8 in the member 2. The uprights are detachably mounted on channel brackets 15 which have a spigot extending upwards from the lower flange of the bracket to receive the end of the upright. According to the Provisional Specification the cross-pieces may be detachable from both uprights.
