Abstract
527,401. Moistening or otherwise treating air with liquids; spray-producers. MAILLE, J., and ROTH, J. April 11, 1939, No. 10991. [Class 55 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a vertical draught atomizer, the liquid, which may be water or other liquid such as a deodorant, is picked up by a nozzle 14 dipping into the liquid in a container 1 and caused to rotate by a motor 9, the liquid running out on to the upper face of a rotating plate 12. Air drawn in through openings 2 is driven by a turbine pump 15 through openings 7 in an inner cover 6, is impregnated by atomized liquid from the plate 12 which is projected through the openings, and issues through an annular orifice 19 in a cap 18. The ratio between the area of the inlet and outlet openings is between 19 and 2.1 to 1, and the plate 12 is spaced from the plane of the upper edge of the openings a distance equal to one third of their total height. A cup shaped collar 20 prevents lateral draught from opposing.the upward travel of the atomized liquid and air.
