Abstract

569,753. Spray-producers. TRIER, V. A. Sept. 9, 1943, Nos. 14796 and 14797. [Class 69 (iii)] A mist of fine liquid particles is produced by directing a spray or jet of the liquid against the surface of the liquid itself whereby the larger particles become absorbed by the liquid, but the finer particles rebound from the liquid surface to form the spray. The sprayed liquid may consist of 5 per cent lethane and 95 per cent kerosene used for destroying insects. The nozzle 5 is supplied with compressed air through a pipe 4 which sucks liquid up from a feed pipe 6, the lower end of which is submerged in the liquid in the bottom of a container 1. The fine mist issues from the outlet 4a. A perforated conical &c. shield 13 which may dip into the liquid surrounds the nozzle 5. Extra air may be induced by a tube 19, Fig. 4, through ports in an adjustable cap 20, the air passing down a conical splash guard &c. 21 surrounding a group of nozzles 23. The level of the liquid in the container 15 is adjustably maintained by a bottle 27 feeding a cup 28 with the liquid, the cup being adjustable up or down by adjusting its feed pipe in a gland tightened by a nut 32. The height of the group of nozzles can also be adjusted by mounting them on the compressed air or feed pipe 22, which is adjustable up or down within the gland nut 26, 25a is a lateral conduit for compressed air to the tube 22 and nozzles 23. The removable cover 16 of the container has a skirt 18 to make a liquid seal.
