Abstract
527,194. 'Air-cooled condensers on locomotives and vehicles. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 3, 1939, No. 10387. Convention date, April 1, 1938. [Class 79 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] Air is directed through an air-cooled condenser 14 extending along the sides of the turbine-driven locomotive described in Specification 510,115 or other motor vehicle by louvres 22 forming diverging inlet passages at the sides of the vehicle, and is discharged through converging outlets between louvres 28 at the top of the vehicle. The louvres of each set are pivoted and connected together for simultaneous adjustment. The air passes upwards over the sloping walls 32 of a central compartment which is available for storage tanks or other auxiliary apparatus. The air flow may be assisted by a fan 34. Specifications 9995/02 and 10311/04, [both in Class 79], also are referred to.
