Abstract

527,068. Vehicle bodies. ASTON MARTIN, Ltd., and HILL, C. March 30, 1939, No. 9984. [Class 108 (i)] In a vehicle body comprising a supporting frame of tubular, channelled or similar members and a covering of metal sheet panelling, such as described in Specifications 520,986 and 527,067, adaptor pieces are provided which are secured to the frame at positions where the frame is spaced from the edge of the panelling, and are so shaped as to provide the correct shape for the edge of the panelling. An adaptor for the bottom of the door opening comprises a piece of sheet metal 24 bent to form a rabbet 25 for the edge of the door, and a panel portion 26 forming the outer face of the body below the door. The adaptor is welded at 28 to the frame tube 27 and stays 29 are welded to the tube and lower edge 30.
