518,687. Sheet-metal doors. PORSCHE, F. Sept. 2, 1938, No. 25697. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1937. [Class 103 (ii)] The marginal parts of the outer and inner shells 1, 2 of a sheet-metal door, particularly for motor vehicles, are bent inwardly to form flanges 3, 4 and the shells are then connected together along these flanges by spot welding, rivets, or screws. A gasket 6 is inserted in a channel formed between these flanges and the erect part 5 of the shell 2, being held firmly by the edge 7 of the flange 4 being in parts bent over inwards. The marginal parts. 8 of the gasket projects beyond the flanges. In another form, the connection between the flanges is obtained by beading the edge of the flange 3 over the flange 4, the beading also serving to hold the gasket in position.
