Abstract
525,553. Doors. PORSCHE, F. Jan. 24, 1939, No. 2409. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1938. [Class 103 (ii)] Sheet metal doors for automobiles constructed of inner and outer shells and with a window opening have the inner shell formed of a part surrounding the window opening a lower part and side strips overlapping the corners of these two parts. The lower section of the inner shell is shown made up of two lateral frame strips 5, 6 which overlap downwardly extending parts 3 and 4 of the upper part 2 surrounding the window opening, and a lower frame strip 9. The flanges of the strips 5 and 6 extend round the lower corners of the door. The lock 19 is preferably placed at an overlapped section and the hinges 12, 13 may be embraced by the overlapping flanges. The overlapped parts of the individual sheet metal parts may be set back by the thickness of the sheet metal so that a continuous surface of the inner shell is formed.
