[Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A pressed sheet-metal door for vehicles includes top and side frame members 10, 11, 12 having outer flanges constituting the outer edges of the door and inner flanges 20 constituting the edges of the window opening, the inner flanges 20 lying on the outside of and parallel to the plane of the window 18 and being fixedly connected e.g. spot-welded, to similarly-directed flanges 21 of the external sheet-metal door-panel 14, the connected flanges being directed inwardly of the window opening 22. An upper flange on a cross-bar 24, Fig. 2, stiffening the bottom edge of the opening 22, is also secured, e.g. spotwelded, to the flange 21 at the bottom of the window-opening. The door frame may be formed from a sheet metal blank comprising a number of flat strips welded together, the blank then being pressed into shape, or the individual components may be pressed separately and then welded together. To facilitate assembly of the frame and panel 14 the final trimming of the coinciding edges is effected after the parts have been secured, and the trimmed edges and welds on the flanges 21 are covered by an ornamental strip 27 having a hook-shaped beading 28 bent back on itself to embrace the edge of the window opening. The portions 37 of the frame members 10, 11, 12 forming the outer edge surfaces of the door are bent to cover the gap between the door and door-opening and are connected, e.g. spotwelded, to the inwardly-bent edges 38 of the panel 14, the connected edges being adapted to engage packing 41 in channels 40 fixed around the door-opening, as described in Specification 491,306. In order to support the interior fabric facing 43 of the door, the vertical portion 44, Fig. 5, of the bottom, Z-shaped, frame member 13, is stepped inwardly at 45 and the internal sheet-metal panel 15, which is secured to the frame members 10, 11, 13, is connected with the unstepped part, providing a channel 46 for the reception of the facing 43 which is introduced into a recess formed by the members 10, 11.
