Abstract

726,666. Fire resisting doors. LINDEN DOORS, Ltd. Aug. 28, 1953 [May 28, 1952], No. 13598/52. Class 20 (3). A fire check door 1 is chamfered along the top and outer free edge to coact with complementary chamfered edges of a frame 2, the vertical hanging edge 5 of the door being provided with a tongue 6 which engages, when the door is closed, in a corresponding groove 7 in the door frame. The tongue 6, of approximately semi-circular section, may be formed as an integral part, or as a separate strip fixed to the hanging edge, of the door. The door is built up of vertical strips 9 of fire resisting wallboard sandwiched between outer layers' of ply 10, as shown, or between metal sheets. If desired, the bottom edge of the door may be chamfered. In an alternative construction the tongue 6 is provided on the frame, the corresponding recess being formed in the hanging edge of the door.
