232,081. Dehn, F. B., (Budd Manufacturing Co., E. G.). July 17, 1924. Doors for passenger vehicles.-In an all-metal door for vehicles formed of inner and outer panels 11, 12, Figs. 3 and 4, secured together at their edges and forming an intervening chamber, the outer panel 11 is flanged at its upper edge 17 to form a moulding for the upper edge of the door and provided with an opening 17<1>, while a holder 24 is attached to the inner parel 12 within the chamber and arranged to receive a socket 38, which is inserted through the opening 17' and is adapted to carry a rod for supporting a curtain on the door. The holder is formed of two metal stampings 27, 36, Figs. 6 and 7, which are assembled by engaging tongues 37 with slots 29 and are then attached to the inner panel 12 by means of the flanges 25, 30 prior to securing the two panels 11, 12 together. Preferably the direction of the recess formed by the holder is in a direction slightly inclined to the vertical and the socket 38 is retained therein by means of projections 35 on the stamping 36 snapping into engagement with corresponding holes in the socket 38. The hinge straps 44, Fig. 9, pass through apertures in the side of the door and are secured by screws 54 to reinforcing plates 49 welded to the panel 12.
