526,698. Pipe joints. LEAD WOOL CO., Ltd., and MOULTON, F. March 23, 1939, No. 9198. [Class 99 (i)] A caulked joint comprises a deformable ring 16, an expanding ring 21 having a projection 22 which enters a groove in the ring 16 so as to expand it inwardly and outwardly, and a caulkable ring 23 which may be integral with the ring 21. The ring 16 may be of rubber, have an intermediate bulge when unstressed, and have a lead shoe 17. Specification 488,943 is referred to.
