Abstract
525,831. Electric hot-plates. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. (Elektro-Geratebau Ges.). March 1, 1939, No. 6717. [Class 39 (iii)] In the manufacture of an embedded electric heating element, a disc 1 is provided with ribs 2 forming grooves 3 of rectangular cross section. Powdered insulating material 4, which may be slightly moist, is then placed in the grooves up to the ribs 2, and a stamp 5 is then applied to form grooves in the insulating material while only slightly consolidating it. Heating coils 6 are placed in the grooves and then more insulating material, and the material compressed by an ungrooved stamp, and further compressed by a grooved stamp 10 with recesses 11 corresponding to the ribs 2. The stamp 5 may be heated to prevent adhesion of the moist insulating material. The insulating material preferably contains more than 50 per cent. of particles of a flaky nature.
