Abstract

525,576. Corset &c. fastenings. STEELS & BUSKS, Ltd., LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd., LILLIE, G. R. V., KENDALL, A., and COVENTRY, T. M. Feb. 23, 1939, No. 6043. [Class 141] A fastening for a corset or similar garment comprising a sliding fastening and a hook and eye fastening is made with the two fastenings associated as a single unit ready to be attached to the garment. For this purpose, the eyes 3 are sewn to a strip 2 which, as shown is doubled on itself to extend the whole width of the complete fastening and may be backed by a strengthening strip 11 and a plush strip 10. The hooks 6 are secured between the folds of a strip 5 to which the strip 4 of one of the stringers 8 is stitched at 28, the other strip 1 of the other stringer 7 being secured to the backing at 29. Other forms are described in which the edges of the backings 10, 11, and strip 2 are stepped; the steps in the manufacture of the fastening are described.
