524,734. Manifolding books. GILBERT, A. April 11, 1939, No. 11027. [Class 16] In a duplicating or manifolding book or pad consisting of superposed sets 1 ... 6 each consisting of at least two sheets one or both being carbonized at the rear, the sheets of each set are successively inset from the bottom sheet upwards so that a portion of each sheet of the set is visible from above, the insettings of adjacent sets being offset and laterally spaced. Corresponding corners may be cut off obliquely, adjacent sets having opposite corners cut off. In each set, the upper sheet 7 is carbonized over the whole of its rear surface whilst sheet 8 has a carbonized strip 9 at the rear for use with an inserted sheet or card. Sheet 8 also has a distinctive marking such as a red line 14 to indicate the bottom sheet of a set, and to facilitate preparing the sheets for assembly, the line 14 may be duplicated.
