Abstract
440,835. Manifolding -books; carbon papers. GILBERT, A., 101, Goswell Road, London. Oct. 8, 1934, No. 28732. [Class 16] [See also Group XVI] In a duplicating or record sheet provided with a carbonized surface, the carbonizing-material is arranged in side-by-side bands or stripes, adjacent bands or stripes being of contrasting colour. The arrangement is such that each of the carbon entries made therewith is preferably in two or more contrasting colours to prevent fraud. In the form shown, a pad of record sheets, each sheet 1 having one side coated with carbon and the other side ruled with longitudinal and transverse lines, is bound into a cover 5, 6. The carbonized surface may comprise longitudinal contiguous bands of colours, such as red and black, or the colour bands may extend obliquely across the sheet, or may be zigzagged down the sheet. The bands of colour may be separated to a small extent, and may not extend the full length or breadth of the sheet. Each sheet may have two spaced filing-perforations 14, whereby the sheets, either in pad or loose form, may be used in a duplicate-writing appliance, such as that described in Specification 383,717; further perforations 15 may also be provided in each sheet for use in the duplicate-writing appliance described in Specification 309,248, [Class 16]. Each sheet may have a counterfoil 2 from which the main portion may be detached along a line of perforations 3. Record cards may be placed beneath the record sheets to receive coloured duplicate entries thereon, or alternate uncarbonized duplicate sheets may be included in the pad. In order to simplify the detection of the removal of record sheets from the pad, one edge thereof, preferably the unbound lower edge, has one or more oblique coloured bands or lines printed &c. thereon. Instead of applying the colour bands of carbon to the back of a record sheet, they may be applied to the back of a sheet which is to serve merely for duplicating purposes.
