524,648. Pens; pen stands. WAGNER, E. R. Feb. 2, 1939, No. 3550. [Class 146 (iii)] Fountain pens have their nibs kept moist when not in use by a washer or sleeve 1 of cellular resilient absorbent material retained within the cap 5, Fig. 3, or the socket 11, Fig. 5, of a pen stand. The sleeve is compressed into its socket and has a central hole 2 to receive the point of the glass nib 4. The sleeve is moistened with ink, water or a glycerine solution, and is formed from sponge rubber either stamped from sheet with upper and lower cells closed or sealed or moulded or cut from a tube. To increase its hold, the cap or socket may be roughened or the sleeve 1 may be adhesively secured.
