Abstract
524,607. Conveyers. MACDONALD, J., and G.W.B. ELECTRIC FURNACES, Ltd. Feb. 2, 1939, No. 3536. [Class 78 (i)] To charge and discharge a furnace or perform similar transporting operations, a frame 1 is hauled to-and-fro on a support by a chain 2 driven through reversing-gear from a motor 4. A wheeled lifting-frame 10 is mounted on and moves normally with the frame 1. As the latter reaches the end of its movement towards the left into the furnace 5, the frame 10 contacts with a stop and the continuing forward movement of the frame 1 then causes the wheels 11 to rise up the inclines 8 into the recesses 14, thus lifting the frame 10 and the load. On the backward run the raised frame 10 and frame 1 move together as a unit until the frame 10 is again arrested and rides down the inclines 8 again. To charge the furnace, the frame 1 initially is run backwards from the position shown in Fig. 1 so that the wheels 11 ride up the other inclines 9 and so raise the frame 10 to pick up a load at this point.
