Abstract
523,912. Foundation garments. GOSSARD CO., H. W. Jan. 17, 1939, No. 1591. Convention date. April 26, 1938. [Class 141] A foundation garment comprises fastening means secured to the inner side of the rear of the garment, and each adapted to be projected out through any one of a number, of holes formed in the rear of the garment for engagement with complementary fastening means on one of a pair of flaps extending rearwardly from the sides of the garment. In the form shown, two series of buttonholes 16, 17, are formed in the rear 2 of the garment, and buttons 19, 20, are mounted on a tape 18 secured to the inner side of the garment at 21, and are adapted to be projected through a pair of the holes 16, 17, to fasten to buttonhole tabs 12 at the ends of the flaps 7. In a modification, the button and buttonhole fastening may be replaced by other fastening means, e.g., hooks and eyes, and a greater number of holes may be provided in the rear of the garment. In a further modification, the tape is replaced by a pair of tapes secured to the rear of the garment adjacent' the sides thereof. Specifications 363,843 and 394,627 are referred to.
