[Class 98 (i)] In a camera combined with a light source substantially in the plane of the objective, the amount of light falling on the focal plane is kept constant for a given shutter setting and any correctly-focused position of the objective by a coupling which connects the diaphragmadjusting means and the objective focusing means, and is adjustable to compensate for film speed and intensity of the light source. As shown, the camera 4 is secured at 7 to a carrier 1 on which are adjustably mounted one or more pivoted arms 2 carrying lamps and reflectors. The electric circuit of the lamps include a switch 6, coupled to the shutter release mechanism, whereby a resistance may be included in the circuit during the focusing operation, and cut out when making an exposure. The objective focusing ring and the diaphragm adjusting ring are coupled respectively by links 9, 14 to the ends of a lever 10 pivoted at its middle 12 on the carrier 1 and operable by a knob 16 carrying a pointer 17 moving over a distance scale 18. The two arms of the lever 10 are relatively adjustable to allow for either the film speed or the number of lamps used, and in the latter case the lever 14 may be coupled to an intermediate ring 19 in frictional engagement with the diaphragm adjusting ring so that the film speed may be allowed for by relative angular adjustment of these rings.
