Abstract
906,944. Photographic cameras. LEITZ G.m.b.H., ERNST. Sept. 9, 1959 [Sept. 15, 1958], No. 30782/59. Class 98 (1). A photographic camera comprises a viewfinder and an objective which has an adjustable element and an indicator whose position is dependent on the said element and an image of which is formed in the viewfinder. In the camera shown a filament 4 is provided near the objective and is linked to the diaphragm setting means and indicates the setting thereof. An image of the filament 4 is formed at 33a by means of a mirror 11, lens 32 and reflectors 30, 31. Images of a reticule 14 and the tip of an exposure meter pointer 15 are formed at 33b by means of reflector 35 a Dove or Abbe prism 36 and a lens 37. Therefore, by means of an annular reflector 38 all three of the above mentioned images are visible in the viewfinder field. An exposure time setting knob 46 rotates through gearing 40-44 the prism 36 (or, not shown, the exposure meter's galvanometer 16) thus changing the position of the images of 14, 15 in the viewfinder field by a corresponding amount. Means are provided whereby the knob 46 may be preset to a position depending on the film speed &c. Rotation of the knob 46 to a particular exposure time causes a cam 52 to move a lever 53 and a slide 54 at the end of which is an exposure time scale 51, visible in the viewfinder field, an index mark for this scale being provided. A mirror 11 acts as a reflex mirror and is rotatable out of the light path by the shutter release knob 47 acting through levers 47a-50, and simultaneously operates means to cut off the viewfinder from the required light-tight part of the camera. The reticule 14 may be designed as shown in Fig. 4. A family of lines is drawn each line of which makes a different angle with the image 4<SP>1</SP> of the diaphragm setting filament 4. The light value setting of the camera is correct when the line A adjacent line image 4<SP>1</SP> is parallel to it. The marking 14a is provided to ensure that the prism 36 is set in the correct position of two possible ones which give the above stated parallelism.
