Abstract
522,940. Clamps. GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and TEGERDINE, G. E. Oct. 19, 1938, No. 30253. [Class 44] A clamp for resiliently holding together members 13, 14 to be riveted comprises a rod 10 with foot 11 adapted to be passed through registering holes 15 and bear against the under surface of member 13, and an L-form leafspring 16 pivotally connected to the upper end of rod 10 by a cross pin 18. After insertion of the foot 11 member 16, which is slotted at 20 to allow it to pass the rod, is swung to the position shown in Fig. 3 in which the limb 22 bears resiliently against the upper surface of member 14 or against an interposed washer or other abutment member. Fig 3 shows a member 25 with inclined surface 26 against which limb 22 bears and a depending sleeve 23 which embraces the rod and fits the holes 15. Sleeve 23 has a lateral slot to accommodate foot 11. According to the Provisional Specification the abutment is a washer slotted so that it may be applied laterally to the rod and then nipped to close the slot. The rod may also carry a helical spring to effect clamping, in place of the pivoted leaf-spring described above.
