Abstract

Wire strainers.-A device for straining and securing a tie 17' across a wire clamp 12 that lashes two pole sections 10, 11 together comprises a lever 20 having hooks 31, 34 for engaging the clamp and tie respectively. The hooks 31 are integral with a sleeve 26 having a nut 28 housed in a recess in the sleeve and engaging a threaded portion 25 of the lever 20, whereby the distance between the hooks 31 and hook 34 can be varied. On swinging the device from the position of Fig. 2 to that of Fig. 3, the tie is strained and deformed as shown. The device is then reversed as in Fig. 4 and swung upwardly to fasten the projecting end of the tie as shown. The end of the lever is hollow and is formed with a transverse hole, not shown, so that the end of the clamp can be engaged either in the longitudinal hole or in the transverse hole and be bent back to form an eye through which the spiked end 15 of the clamp passes.
