Abstract
181,467. Norton, D. E. March 10, 1921. Combined with field glasses &c.-Relates to means whereby field glasses &c. may be applied to and supported on a walking-stick, umbrella, &c. and thus conveniently held for use. A fitting a secured on a crossmember b or other part of the field glasses c has a part a<2> projecting from its underside to fit into a metal socket d mounted in the handle e of the walking-stick &c. The fitting a may be fixed to the cross-member by a plate and screws, as shown in Fig. 6. Fig. 10 shows a socket d<1> adapted to be fixed to any part of a stick by a device like a spacing paper clip. When adapted to prism glasses, as shown in Figs. 7 and 8, the fitting a may be pivoted on a screwthreaded pin provided with a stop to position the fitting so that the glasses may be closed. The fitting a may be shaped in the form of a socket to receive the spiked end of a ferrule at the lower end of the stick.
