Abstract

522,849. Ventilating mines. UNIVERSITY PATENTS, Inc. Dec. 19, 1938, No. 36969. Convention date, Aug. 23. [Class 137] Air for ventilating and cooling a mine is compressed in a blower, 1, cooled in a cooling system 2 and delivered through a conduit 3 to an air engine 5 which drives a dynamo 6, the current from which is led by cables 8 to the main electric supply 10. The compressed air due to its expansion in driving the engine 5 is cooled and delivered to the mine working 7, the used air escaping through a shaft 9. Thus the mine is cooled and the energy of the compressed air recovered. Specification 421,624 and U.S.A. Specification 2,069,269 are referred to.
