Abstract

704,673. Mines. WATSON, E. Nov. 13, 1951 [Nov. 21, 1950], No. 28385/50. Class 85 A mine road is provided with two conduits 11, 12 so that, in an emergency such as a fall, air may be blown through one conduit to the cut-off working and foul air withdrawn through the other conduit. At intervals along both conduits are boxes 15 with valve stops 15a giving access to means of communication and means for starting up air fans 21, 22 or water pumps. The boxes also permit the introduction of food containers 30 which are passed along the conduit by rods 31.
