Abstract

521,905. Snap-action switches; actuating of switches. PARSONS, Ltd., C. H. and HANDLEY, G. B. Nov. 28, 1938, No. 34541. [Class 38 (v)] The metallic cord or chain which alternately closes and opens a ceiling or other switch by successive pulls, is insulated from the switch mechanism. In a switch having a mechanism generally similar to that of Specification 406,576, the pull is applied to a yoke piece 18, which repaces the U-shaped link or stirrup l of that Specification, and is made by turning up the parts 21 beyond the incisions 25, Fig. 6, so that they lie parallel to one another, the ends 21 being pivoted to the throw-over link 14 corresponding to j in the above - mentioned Specification. An insulating plate 27 and a mica piece 34 are riveted to ears 26 formed by the inner edges of the incisions 25, and the plate 27 has a seating 31 for a ferrule 30 which carries a pin 32 securing the chain and serves as guide for one end of the cord-return spring.
