521,634. Aircraft landing-gear. GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., WILLIAMS, D. L. H., and CROCOMBE, F. F. Nov. 26, 1938, No. 34507. [Class 4] To avoid interference with the use of bomb sights &c. a tricycle undercarriage is either arranged asymmetrically of the longitudinal axis or one or more elements of it can be retracted into an asymmetrical position. Fig. 3 shows the nose wheel of such an undercarriage arranged asymmetrically on the fuselage and adapted to be retracted through a gap which can be covered by a hinged door 16. To prevent yawing, the other wheels may be arranged asymmetrically also or be given a slight inclination to provide a compensating drag. The axis about which the wheel support is swung may be skewed to cause the support to take up position inclined to the longitudinal axis, and the wheel may be swivelled to lie against the fuselage wall, the retracting movement may be in the forward or rearward direction.
