Abstract
497,274. Aeroplanes. ROBERTSON, J.H. June 15, 1937, No. 16599. [Class 4] An aeroplane includes a body section a connected to wings formed of two parts b, b<3> the parts b3 having roots of chord and depth equal to those of the section a and tapering to the sections b which are provided with ailerons formed of two mutually hinged parts e, e<1>. As shown the section a has a forwardly projecting cabin c and a bomb storage compartment a' provided with a bomb and release trap a<2>. Engines d, d<1> are disposed between the sections and fuel tanks p are housed in the wings. Gun turrets f, g are provided. If the aeroplane has a single engine, laterally-spaced gun-turrets are provided. Additional guns k may be provided. The forward turret f is provided with a hinged translucent shield f and the rear turret g may be advanced or retracted in a horizontal plane or along the wing surface. The cover of the rear turret g is formed of overlapping parts. Retractable landing-wheels are disposed beneath the central-section. The empennage is carried on outriggers j<1>. According to the Provisional Specification the turrets are provided with searchlights.
