[Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXIV and XXVI] A resilient wheel, stated to be applicable for use as a pulley, flywheel, or an elastic shaft-coupling, comprises an outer rim 2 suspended from an inner rim 3 by elastic rings 1 mounted, in tension, on pairs of pins 6, means being provided for varying the tension in the rings. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the inner pins 6 are arranged eccentrically on discs 37 which may be adjusted, individually or collectively, by means of toothed segments 31 meshing with pinions 41 fast with the discs 37. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the rings 2, 3 are provided with radially-spaced sets of holes 8, 9 respectively for selective engagement by the pins 6. As shown in Fig. 3, rubber blocks 46 may be fitted inside the rings 1 to act as buffers under abnormal load or shock. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the provision of shockabsorbers for damping the relative displacements of the inner, and outer rims. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
