Abstract

140,465. Laurent, A. March 12, 1919, [Convention date]. India-rubber and like s p r i n g s ; non-metallic springs.-A shock-absorbing device comprises a series of india-rubber sheets p, p<1>, p<2> separated by cylindrical india - rubber bars b, b<1>, b<2>, the bars of one row corresponding with the intervals between the bars of the adjacent rows. The bars may be placed at intervals, as shown, or united together by an elastic member. In a modification, the sheets may be replaced by transverse india-rubber strips. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the material employed may be any elastic material such as rubber, cork, wood, &c., the bars not necessarily being of circular section. In the modification in which the sheets are replaced by transverse strips, the different rows of strips may have different sections. The device is stated to be particularly adapted for elastic tyres for vehicles, and may be used for all kinds of shock-absorbers in elevators, foundations of machines &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
