Abstract

520,394. Aminotriazoles; treating textiles with liquids. I.G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Oct. 20, 1938, No. 30356. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1937. [Classes 2 (iii) and 15 (ii)] Fatty acids containing more than eight carbon atoms are reacted with aminoguanidine or a salt thereof. Aminotriazoles are thereby probably formed, which may be treated with alkylating or oxyalkylating agents. The products are textile adjuvants having a softening action upon artificial silks, mixed fabrics. wool and linen. In an example, aminoguanidinecarbonate is melted with stearic acid and the product purified by boiling with dilute sodium carbonate solution. Instead of stearic acid, coconut oil fatty acid, oleic acid, ricinoleic acid or a halogenated or branched chain fatty acid may be used. In a further example, an artificial silk is handled in a bath containing heptadecylaminotriazole hydrochloride. The products may be used together with a protective colloid when sulphates are present.
