Abstract
520,283. Suitcases &c. CROSS, W. T., and BARROW, HEPBURN, & GALE, Ltd. Sept. 16, 1938, No. 26981. [Class 18] In a collapsable suitcase &c. wherein the ends 3 are creased so as to fold on to the bottom 2 and the sides 4 fold on to the ends, the sides are forced apart in the set up condition of the case by hinged rigid flaps 8 which are swung up from the bottom or from one of the sides 4 to lie against the ends in which position they are retained by turnbuttons 10. The flaps 8 may be of skeleton form or each flap may be replaced by two flaps hinged at the end edges of an end 3 and abutting in the middle where they are secured by catches. The bottom may be doubled about a medial, longitudinal crease line and the lid may also collapse about crease lines 7c, 7e, this collapsing being facilitated by oblique folds 7d joining the side and front flanges. When closed down, the lid is held by press button fasteners 12, 13.
