Abstract

520,087. Valves. HUGO, W. T., and ANGLOAMERICAN OIL CO., Ltd. Oct. 11, 1938, No. 29471. [Class 135] A valve for connecting either the suction or the delivery side of a pump to one or more tanks comprises an outer casing 1, within which is a tubular valve 4 rotatable on an inner casing 3 by means of a handle 7. The inner casing is divided into two chambers 8, 9 by a partition 10. The chamber 8 has four ports 11 at angles of 90 degrees apart, and the valve 4 has two ports 13 at an angle of 90 degrees apart, whereby either of two passages 18, 18a, which lead from the suction and delivery sides respectively of the pump, can be placed in communication with either of the two tanks. The chamber 9 has ports leading to a pipe 19, which may serve either as a discharge or as a supply pipe, and these ports are controlled by further ports in the valve, so that either the suction - passage 18 or the delivery - passage 18a is connected to the pipe 19 for the filling or emptying of the tank. A removable cap 22 at the end of the inner casing enables a tank to be emptied by gravity or by syphoning.
